Equipment

  • 9-inch (or similarly sized) baking dish
  • Mixing bowls (one for the peach filling, one for the crumble topping)
  • Knife and cutting board
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Pastry cutter or fork (for cutting the butter into the dry ingredients)
  • Oven

Ingredients

  • Peach Filling:
  • 6 medium ripe peaches peeled, pitted, and sliced (about 5–6 cups)
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • Crumble Topping:
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup rolled oats
  • 1/3 cup packed light or dark brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup cold unsalted butter cut into small cubes
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon optional
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  • Preheat & Prepare:
  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9-inch baking dish lightly with butter or nonstick spray.
  • Make the Peach Filling:
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the sliced peaches, granulated sugar, lemon juice, cornstarch, and 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon. Gently toss until the peaches are evenly coated. Transfer the mixture into the prepared baking dish, spreading it out evenly.
  • Prepare the Crumble Topping:
  • In another bowl, whisk together the flour, rolled oats, brown sugar, pinch of salt, and the optional 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon. Add the cold butter cubes. Using a pastry cutter or your fingertips, work the butter into the dry ingredients until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs with some pea-sized pieces remaining.
  • Assemble & Bake:
  • Evenly sprinkle the crumble topping over the peach filling in the baking dish. Place in the preheated oven and bake for 35–40 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the peach filling is bubbly around the edges.
  • Cool & Serve:
  • Remove the dish from the oven and let it cool for 5–10 minutes before serving. Enjoy warm on its own or with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream.

Notes

Gluten-Free Option: Replace the all-purpose flour and rolled oats with certified gluten-free alternatives.
Dairy-Free Option: Use a plant-based butter substitute to make this recipe dairy-free.
Filling Consistency: If your peaches are particularly juicy, you may increase the cornstarch by an extra teaspoon for a thicker filling.
Variations: Feel free to incorporate other fruits such as blueberries, raspberries, or even a mix of stone fruits for added flavor.
Serving Suggestion: This crumble is best served warm. Reheat leftovers in the oven to revive the crisp topping.
Tip: For an extra crunchy topping, toast the oats lightly in a dry pan before mixing with the other topping ingredients.
